Who likes stickers? Are you questioning where I’m going with this?

This post may seem very uncertain, but please stick with me to the end. Here is the premise: I happened to look up Poptropica Books on Amazon one day perhaps a week ago. All the normal, released books came up until I got to the end of the list. Two new books without any covers sat there. Their names were “Poptropica: Future Island”, and “Ultimate Sticker Collection: Poptropica”.

Now, before you go looking up those books, I have to clarify something: Future Island is no longer there. It disappeared the day that the Creators announced the two new Poptopic books. Sadly, I don’t have anything but a memory of it; and you’ll just have to take my word for it! :P

But first, about this sticker collection: it’s scheduled to be released July 21, 2014. Here’s the description:

Welcome to the fantastical world of Poptropica® with Ultimate Sticker Collection: Poptropica®! Kids will explore the Islands and meet the colorful characters. They can re-create scenes from their adventures online or create exciting new ones with more than 1,000 full-color fun stickers. Full of fun facts and interesting information about kids’ favorite virtual world, Poptropica, the fun will never end with this new ultimate sticker collection from DK!

Now, back to Future Island — this is the major question; is this going to be an actual island? All I know is that none of the recent SUIs have been made into books. It was scheduled to be released sometime in August, and there was no description. Time Tangled Island already has a section of time dedicated to the future, so this would be a little more than unoriginal. The Creators are rumored to be running out of ideas (Dream Island Contest then Monster Carnival), so is this possible? And could they release a book based on the island the same year the island is released?

Further more, futureisland.com leads to an error page… but it was made in 2007, the same year “poptropica.com” was made. It may be a subdomain of Poptropica that hasn’t been finalized yet. No solid proof, but just something to think about.

If you’re wondering who he is, Jeff Kinney is the main creator of Poptropica (he came up with the idea), along with the other titles I listed above. There is a contest being held by Pizza Hut’s “Book It” program, where you can win the full Wimpy Kid book set! Find the details here. :D

These days, Poptropica common rooms don’t get as much attention as they used to — but we’ve been missing out on a lot recently. The recent common rooms are awesome! Here are my top 5 best common rooms to date! :D

5. Bananabee’s — Night Watch Island

This is a resturaunt spin off of Applebees, a popular classy restaurant. Poptropica once had a kids meal pamphlet that came with the meal featured at Applebees. I still have mine. ^-^

This common room has multiple tables and chairs, each with a dish of food sitting on it. It’s perfect for chatting, and on the top floor is a game room. It’s all very ritzy (as Applebee’s is), and has a nice feel to it. The attention to detail is very nicely done.

4. You Know the Drill Eatery — Super Villain Island

This common room has many key features that make it unique. The specials are sea cucumbers and burritos, there is a poster advertising the island’s villain, Dr Jupiter (also known as Zeus), and the name is just awesome! It has an oil rig theme, and a skyline view from the second floor. Some parts of it are new and modern, while others are not — it’s a great mixture, and creates a great environment!

3. The Hair Club — Spy Island

This common room’s outer building is shaped like a giant hair spray bottle and giant comb on the side. You can spray the giant hair spray bottle by jumping on the cap! :P

Inside, it’s themed like a 1930s barber shop, with a jukebox, stage, and milk shakes sitting on nearly every table. It also has lights on the top floor. This is a timeless (though based on a time period) classic common room — it’s worth visiting! :D

2. Celebrity Wax Museum — Backlot Island

This common room is just amazing. It features four wax celebrities; Elvis, Groucho Marx, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn. Each of the celebrities are drawn, and Groucho Marx’s eyes follow your cursor, and he winks! I love this room for it’s artwork and creativity.

1. Party Time Tower — Time Tangled Island

This common room, when you’re talking about parties, has it all! It has balloons, a bubble machine, a huge birthday cake, more balloons, and a big clock — which doesn’t really go with the theme, but then again, it’s in Time Tangled Island.

This was released with Time Tangled Island as the third common room. It’s one of the biggest when you look at the outside of the building. It all has a special place in our hearts, and it’s the best place to be when Poptropica’s birthday comes around. ;)

Poptropica has been around for 6 years, and over that period of time, many things have happened. I felt compelled to post this because with all the new things happening, the community seems to think that we’re losing sight of the genius Poptropica that we once knew. But right now, I’m here to tell you that we’re not necessarily losing Poptropica. Let’s begin! :D

When Poptropica started back in 2007, it was nothing more than a playground for the educational FunBrain.com. It was a place that kids could take a break. Unsurprisingly, Poptropica became more popular than FunBrain itself.

So, Poptropica started to get popular. It was mid-2008. The Poptropica Help Blog was born. I also want to mention that around this time, Monster Carnival Island appeared and disappeared on the map. ;)

We started getting hints of the Poptropica Store with some animal costumes — one of which (the lamb) has never been released. Maybe the Creators should get to that soon… :P And what happened to that pesky monkey?

In early 2009, rumors of Poptropica Membership leaked, and about a year later, it became a reality.

Popularity Contests were started by the Creators. They continued for a while and then stopped… Who thinks that the PHB should do them again?

Those were the days. Everything was so new. *wipes tear* Let’s use our time machine to go forward to the brisk year of 2013.

Poptropica now has its own DS game. That’s impressive. The Friends feature has been added as well. And there’s even books — and clothing! And woaahhhh! Look at that list of toys! You could never get bored with all thi– never mind, I’m already bored.

But all is well! It’s just our regular Poptropica that we know and love. There are some minor changes, but nothing major. It’s not like Poptropica is going to have sound all of a sudden. :lol:

Welp, that settles it. All is lost. Adios. Poptropica is far and beyond what it once was.

It has morphed into a monster.

Six months after that, Monster Carnival Island is finally announced to come out.

Poptropica really likes messin’ with our feelings.

In case you hadn’t guessed – rest assured, yesterday’s “Mega Fighting Bots Help Blog” tomfoolery was all part of an April Fool’s prank thrown together by the PHB team. Did we fool you? :mrgreen:

We loved Gamer Guy on the Creators’ Blog and decided to bring a taste of his atrocious spelling and grammar (not to mention his obsession with Mocktropica’s Mega Fighting Bots) over here to the PHB, and what better way than on the Day of Jokes? :D

So in addition to a typo-ridden post, the comments section of said post was also flooded with both Mocktropicans standing by Poptropica’s side, as well as elite gamers espousing their favorite game, which of course can only be Mega Fighting Bots. I mean, kicking bots all day long? That’s the dream!

Several of the PHB authors were commenting as “Gamer Guy”, and we did our best to answer most of your comments, which we hope kept you entertained! :lol: Also, Blake made a post encouraging Gamer Guy’s arrival and admonishing all the haters, because, well, GG may have offended a few n00bs.

Plus, we’re not sure how many of you noticed, but we also fixed up a brand-new About page (as mentioned in GG’s post) to introduce ourselves as pro gamers (check it out!). ;) And did you see Gamer Guy’s Gravatar profile?

And as you probably saw, we added a header for the MFBHB, changed to an MFB background, and turned the theme color gold to match it. Did you like the change? Not to worry, we’ve reverted back to the regular PHB graphics and are back to typing with proper grammar. :P

We hope the prank didn’t scare you too badly!

Hey guys, BT here with a little quickie post.

In the Creators’ ongoing trend of catching on to what is hot (or should I say cold) on the Internet, they are showing support for the ALS Association by creating not one, not two, not three, but four #IceBucketChallenge images. One of them, on the Creators’ blog, was an image of Oliver and Jorge of Poptropica comic fame taking the ice water with stride — or as much stride as Jorge can show.

These next few images are exclusively on the Twitter page, and it took a less… erm… conventional route as the Creators’ official tweeter decided to have a certain mighty Mythology god (and a few of his villain buddies) take the challenge in the way only they can.

This ice challenge (or should I say “hail and rain challenge”) image makes me wonder if the Zeus avatar pic the tweeter bears isn’t just random choice, but instead is this Creator’s Popsona, like there are Captain Crawfish and Black Widow on the Creators’ blog. (Although Black Widow & Dr. Hare do make an appearance here as well.) And from the images here, I predict that Creator is likely in the visuals department somewhere since he/she threw this together and all…

The PHB team has been challenged by Fierce Moon of Poptropica Secrets to take on the #IceBucketChallenge, and… challenge accepted! The cold doesn’t bother us anyway. ;)

If you haven’t already seen, a few of Poptropica’s most iconic characters have taken on this challenge as well, which aims to raise awareness and donations for the ALS Association, whose goal is to fight a disease known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) which deteriorates muscle control. I made a little donation in the PHB’s name, and if you can, I encourage you to help a good cause as well. :)

As for nominees: we invite any Poptropican who wants to embrace the ice, to do so — whether in real life or with a Poptropica picture! When you do, feel free to post it on your blog or just upload it somewhere, then share it with us in the comments!

There’s a new ad on SUIs (sound-updated islands) such as Mythology, and it’s a street stand that will lead you to a CapriSun Roarin’ Waters website where you can enter daily for a chance to take on the pros from Major League Soccer. More importantly, though, it gives you the new High Kicker power, which is activated when you click “use” and press space bar.

Strangely, this doesn’t work on non-SUIs, and it also may remove your handheld item if you’re holding one. Anyway, enjoy the special move! Keep on poppin’ on, Poptropicans. :D

We promised a community event involving Land, and this is it! Now, Poptropica has already featured some creations on their Twitter, and for inspiration, here are some more from the Creators’ Blog:

They’re great and all, but they haven’t entered this competition, and besides, we believe you guys can do better… so, onto the contest! :D Poptropica Land is now in alpha version 2, and you’ll need to be a member to get the Poptropica Labs card in the Store that will allow you to play “Poptropica Minecraft”. For a guide on how to get started with building, check out the PHB’s Poptropica Labs page!

the rules:

1. You must use Poptropica Lands for this contest. That’s the point! This means no other programs (Minecraft, Unturned, Sir Buildsalot’s Buildatron *that last one is fake, don’t go looking for it*)
2. Build anything you want! That’s the purpose of Poptropica Lands, after all! Build watchtowers, treehouses, statues of yours truly, anything, really! Just be sure that what you make is original.
3. When you’re ready, download a POP file of the world you created.
4. You can send in more than one design, but keep in mind that for those who win, only one design max will be chosen per person to give others a fairer chance.

It’s been a while since I’ve actually sat down and wrote a formal post. Let’s face it – I’ve been a bit neglectful. The PHB plays a big part in my popularity (while it may not be huge) concerning other facets of my online persona. I’ve met some of my best friends here, influenced tons of people.. and for the past few months I’ve been sort of lazy. Last year, today, I posted my first post on the Poptropica Help Blog. It was entitled “Where the Wild One Is“. Here it is -

Hi Gs (Guys, girls, and gorillas)!

Hopefully, you will read to the end of this post; I want you to be ready for what will soon hit this blog — I am HPuterpop;awesomeness unleashed.

I’ve been playing Poptropica since 2007; that’s the year Poptropica started!  I am a kid who loves to read, write, edit, and anything else involving the word “creative”.  I will try to serve you, the viewer, with lightning fast updates, Poptropica memoirs, and reviews! :D

Why are you here, you ask?  I’m the newest addition to the PHB.  You could call me a Renaissance kid, or a Poptropica fanatic… anyway, whatever you call me, I’m so excited to be a part of the Poptropica Help Blog legend. I used to comment here when I was a (smaller) kid.  I went by the name “Puterpop” and had a big mouth.

Now, a little about me…  I draw all the time, and I do it digitally.  I will create art for anyone who asks, and am always looking for jobs.  I also write a good bit, and not only for blogging.  Mister Monster is my main site, where I post most of my material.  I’ll put links at the bottom of the post for more of HP goodness! And I’ll have to explain my name some other time.

It’s amazing for me to look back and think that one year ago, that was my very best that I could do. The title alone took days to come up with.

I had a lot of enthusiasm back then, and I said that the posts would never stop.. but they sort of have. The last time I posted was about 20 days ago. It’s not that I’ve lost interest in the community or the lore of Poptropica – it’s the game itself. I love Poptropica, but let’s face the facts – it’s lost a sense of wholeness. Something seems strange. The game development isn’t like it used to be. Poptropica is broken.

I’ve tried to convince myself that it wasn’t true in the past, time and time again Poptropica proves that it’s not going to get any better. It’s been over a year that Poptropica’s new SUI update came out. It was in “beta” then.. but with the quality of things it sure feels like it’s still in beta now. The artwork is still there, the story is still there, but the game development has gone down hill.

And don’t get me started with the social media efforts. I will admit that Poptropica is making great strides in behind the scenes content, but they’re getting too big for their britches. Their game isn’t working. Graphical issues, plain old lazy platforming, and game crashes are all becoming a regular occurrence.

What’s popping, Poptropicans? Blake here, with another – well, a few pieces of Poptropica news. First up is the new ad on Super Power Island, based on The Spongebob Movie: Sponge out of Water! You could say that this is a pointless cash grab that is clearly not going to be any better than the one released in 2005. All rants aside, though, I’d like to personally thank Prickly Monster for the ad alert.

Now, am I just deranged, or is it SO WEIRD seeing a Nickelodeon ad of any sort on Poptropica? Like really, seeing the words “Krabby Patty” in Poptropica font just killed me with laughter for some reason. Anyway, Sandy, or.. *grabs Spongebob Lingo Dictionary* ..The Rodent.. okay.. will tell you that Burger Beard has stolen the Krabby Patty formula. You’re then taken to the ad game’s start screen, instructing you to run, jump over the cannonballs, and stay behind the pirate ship.

Now, don’t get upset if you don’t beat it on the first try. I didn’t, and I had Spongebob and Patrick behind me laughing at my every failure. Once you get through the cannonball onslaught, you’ll be awarded with Ice Cream Rain and a Bubble Hat. Really? No square pants? I was really hoping for some square pants here… Anyway, check out the above pics for what they look like!

Next up, after visiting Spongebob and the gang, it’s time to head onto the Realms side of Poptropica! The Creators are doing what they did with Lands by showcasing people’s works! First up in their new “Remarkable Realms” blog series is this recreation of the Taj Mahal by Bronze Singer:

That’s the one they posted on the official blog, but over on Twitter, they’ve featured several more awesome Realms. One is clearly from a Golden Fang, but the others are not credited.

And now, to wrap it up, are you ready for the REIGN OF OMEGON? That’s right, the Creators tweeted a sneak peek of what appears to be the printable poster for PoptropiCon: Episode 3 (with a tag to the Twitter handle of our very own Brave Tomato!). Stare at the awesomeness of Omegon, and worship in the “Avengers: Age Of Ultron” name pun that even I wouldn’t have thought of…

Hi. My name – at least online name – is ToborAureum. You probably never have heard of me, but can I ask you a favor? I need tips on how to make my own functional blog. I know you are really good at it and I’m happy you are so good at it. I don’t wish to embarrass myself on my own blog, though – I just need some help from people to get the hang of it.

Over time, I feel I’ll be able to get better, and who knows? Maybe I’ll get my own blog one day! Even though it might not be as great as the juggernaut that is the Poptropica Help Blog, there’s a possibility that I could make an equally good blog. GONe will be the days of my noobish self as I continue on my journey here! :P

Heyyo Poptropicans, it’s Ultimate iPad Expert with some really awesome news!

I’ve been talking with Jess Brallier, aka Zeus, who heads the Poptropica Twitter. I brought up the question of maybe doing a Q and A with him and he said yes!

I felt it best that it not only be us authors to ask questions, but also the community! Do you have a question that you want to ask a Poptropica creator? Put them in the comments of this post. The other PHB authors and I will pick the best ones and send them to Jess for him to answer. :D

There are some new scoop on Poptropica lately and without further ado, here we go! First of all, Jeff Heim, the composer of the Poptropica music we hear today, released a brand new demo reel not so long ago. It contains some new tracks and you can listen to it down below!

I have an extra challenge! Can you tell me where the tracks are being played? Try to guess as many as you can! It’s so amazing! Great job, Jeff Heim!

Moving along, Galactic Hot Dogs Island is finally added to the Poptropica along with new GHD items on the Store! I’ll try to add the photos soon but in the meantime, here’s the app logo!

Last but not the least, Twitter news! Here’s a couple of what we got this week:

Poptropica announced via Twitter that Timmy Failure Island is the next scheduled island after MotM Island. Also, there is no underground island on the schedule.

Around October this year, Poptropica is trying to let our own players from the computer version come to the mobile! They also stated that there will be more such as costumes and islands.

Last but never the least, Poptropica comics are also featured on Tumblr. How amazing!
